A new generation of politics

I hate to be political on this blog, but I find the prospect of Justin Trudeau in politics quite exciting. I've been a fan for a while now, I really love the work he does with giving youth a voice (only 3 more years until I can be a part of Katimavik!). He also does a lot of great work involving the environment and Darfur.
If he does win the Papineau riding (the smallest and poorest riding in Canada) I look forward to his fresh look at politics. We have a lot of aged men representing Canada, hopefully Trudeau could breathe new life into Parliament Hill. Now if we could only get more women who wouldn't end up being called dogs and becoming centerfolds in 'Scoop Weekly'.

My current boss told me she used to change Justin Trudeau's diapers...
and I said... wha?
Then she told me when she was young she worked as a maid at 24 Sussex Drive and her best friend was the Trudeau's nanny.

All I am saying by that is he is like anyone else. He's going to have to prove himself in the political ring...

I never said he wasn't like anyone else. All I said is that I respect his work and am excited over what he would be able to bring to politics.
He's not taking the easy way in to politics. He's going through the nomination process in Papineau, currently a Bloc riding, and Dion said he's not going to step in. He's not getting a guarenteed position in a rich area, he's going to work for it. That's all I'm saying, I never said he wasn't like you or me.

I agree, I'm excited at the prospect of a fresh outlook he seems to provide with most things he works with. Its going to be interesting to watch him work his way up.

I'm happy to see him in politics, but at the same time, I'm not, I don't know if it is the best thing for him, what if he could do more if he wasn't in politics?
He went to our campus for founder's day this year and talked about the youth and the environment, it was quite interesting and he is a good speaker!

I just realized that the picture that you posted seem to be from founder's day.
If you want to look at the webcast of the day here's the link : http://mediasite.campus.mcgill.ca/mediasite2/viewer/Viewer.aspx?layoutPrefix=LayoutTopLeft&layoutOffset=Skins/Clean&width=800&height=631&peid=b3ae381b-929c-4846-8cb5-feef50b724f3&pid=5053a434-2c3f-4198-a2ff-e80ff3fb65c4&pvid=501&mode=Default&shouldResize=false&playerType=WM64Lite
he starts to talk about after 30minutes and one of his teachers introduces him (the first half hour is awards ceremony, national anthem, and it is not that interesting)

It definitely will be interesting, Allison... and exciting!

Good point Evelyne... I just hope he can really push for change on capital hill.
Thanks for that link! I'll have to check it out later!

Wow, thanks Evelyne! I just had a chance to watch the talk he gave... I watched all of his part (I skipped the first 30 minutes :P). He's so inspiring... growing up in a family that really tries to do something about climate change I've heard the message before, but somehow coming from him it seems more real. Although it's not like I haven't cared or haven't done anything, but the way he put it makes you want to do something right there, right then. I really took it to heart! Thanks again, that was awesome!

I'm really happy that you liked it Becky, when I saw your post, I thought that I had to find the link to the webcast, that you'll like it. I loved his talk, but it looked like the one that David Suzuki gave the night before in Montreal, however Justin Trudeau did a great job and he was really interesting, it was really inspiring to hear him talk, I like the fact that he kept saying that we can make a difference.

After this talk, i didn't want him to go into politics, it seems that he could do much more without being a politician, but i hope that i'm wrong and that he will be able to do more in politics.
